RUSLAAN BOX OFFICE COLLECTION DAY 1: AAYUSH SHARMA’S ACTIONER PERFORMS BETTER THAN VIDYA BALAN’S DO AUR DO PYAAR, EARNS RS 60 LAKH

Salman Khan's brother-in-law, actor Aayush Sharma's Ruslaan has released in theatres at a time when the film industry is going through a massive lull. The film, which was heavily promoted by Aayush, started its box office journey by earning Rs 60 lakh on its first day, which is more than what Vidya Balan-starrer Do Aur Do Pyaar, made on its opening day, as per industry tracker Sacnilk.

Vidya Balan's film, which was a relationship comedy, made Rs 50 lakh on its first day just last week. However, Vidyut Jammwal starrer Crakk, which released in February, made Rs 4 crore on its opening day. Crakk was also an actioner that did not depend on the shoulders of an A-lister.

Talking about occupancy, Ruslaan witnessed an overall occupancy of 6.42 percent. In Mumbai, where it had 303 shows, the occupancy stood at 7.50 percent and in Delhi-NCR, with 357 shows, the occupancy was at 7 percent.

Ruslaan had a star-studded premiere night which was attended by Aayush's brother-in-law, superstar Salman Khan. Khan had launched Aayush in 2018 with Loveyatri and the two actors also shared the screen in 2021's Antim. With Ruslaan, Aayush made his way outside of Salman Khan's banner. He spoke about this at the film's trailer launch and said, "I think when you get to work outside of your family, you get to learn a lot of new things. Ruslaan is the result of everything I have learnt."

Aayush had previously opened up about being compared to a dog after his first film bombed and shared with YouTuber Siddharth Kannan, "That day is what made me. I was facing a lot of things till then but when I was compared to a dog that day I had a thought. That when my son grows up and goes on the Internet and reads about his father, (he will read) some person wrote that ‘his father is a dog’ that for me was… When my son and daughter grow up they should read good things about their father. They should be proud of me. And a big portal wrote about me that I am a dog, ‘Aayush Sharma is a dog .’"

Along with Aayush Sharma, Ruslaan also stars debutante actress Sushrii Shreya Mishraa, Telugu star Jagapathi Babu and Chak De Indian actor Vidya Malvade.
