DHANUSH'S RAAYAN AND VIKRAM'S THANGALAAN TO CLASH AT THE BOX OFFICE? WHAT WE KNOW

Since the start of the year, several Tamil films have struggled to make an impact at the box office, despite boasting prominent releases. However, the tide is expected to turn with the upcoming releases of Dhanush’s Raayan and Vikram’s Thangalaan, slated for June. Yet, recent reports hint at a potential clash as both films may hit theatres on the same date.

As per a report by Pinkvilla, Raayan is scheduled for release on June 13, 2024, marking Dhanush’s 50th film. Simultaneously, Thangalaan, helmed by director Pa. Ranjith, is also rumoured for a June 13 release. While an official confirmation is awaited, the possibility of this clash sets the stage for a major box-office showdown.

This wouldn’t be the first instance of such a clash between films starring Tamil superstars. In 2016, Dhanush’s Thodari and Vikram’s Iru Maga hit theatres on the same date, stirring excitement among fans. While fans anticipate another showdown, such clashes could pose challenges for the filmmakers. Given the recent underwhelming performances of Tamil films at the box office, a clash of release dates might adversely impact the box office earnings of both movies.

Directed and written by Dhanush himself, Raayan features a stellar cast including Nithya Menen, Amala Paul, Prakash Raj, Sundeep Kishan and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar. Produced by Kalanithi Maran, the film boasts music composed by the renowned A.R. Rahman.

On the other hand, Thangalaan, under the direction of Pa. Ranjith, is anticipated to be a blockbuster. The film stars Vikram alongside Parvathy Thiruvothu, Malavika Mohanan and Pasupathy. With music by G.V. Prakash Kumar and produced by Jyoti Deshpande, Dhananjayan G. and K.E. Gnanavelraja, Thangalaan promises to be a compelling cinematic experience, with Vikram in the lead role.

As anticipation mounts for the releases of both Raayan and Thangalaan, fans eagerly await official announcements regarding their release dates.
