AKSHAY KUMAR TO REUNITE WITH PRIYADARSHAN FOR NEW FILM, DIRECTOR CONFIRMS IT’S GOING TO BE ‘HORROR FANTASY COMEDY’

The much-awaited reunion is finally happening. Filmmaker Priyadarshan and Akshay Kumar are set to join hands for a new film, which will be bankrolled by Ekta Kapoor. Priyadarshan has revealed that the new project will be in line with what the duo has done before-- comedy, but with a twist of "horror and fantasy".

While there were always rumours that the two were going to come together, Priyadarshan has now confirmed that the collaboration is indeed locked. The filmmaker said he has finished his docu-series on the Ram Mandir’s history and is now gearing to begin his "most important film".

The Hindustan Times quoted Priyadarshan, who informed that he is starting work on the film with Akshay Kumar, produced by Ekta Kapoor. "It is a horror fantasy with humour."

When asked if the new film is going to be like Bhool Bhulaiyaa, their cult horror comedy, Piyadarshan said the 2007 film was a psychological thriller, but the new project will be "fantasy, in the backdrop of black magic, the oldest superstition of India".

"It is always a pleasure collaborating with Akshay. From our first film, to this one, it has always turned out well with him, he handles the emotions so well. I was waiting for a good subject to get back with him, and this one I feel will be that," the director revealed.

Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan have previously collaborated on several hit comedies like Hera Pheri, Garam Masala, Bhagam Bhag and De Dana Dan. Their last collaboration was Khatta Meetha in 2010.

Meanwhile Akshay Kumar, who is going through an all-time box office low, has a packed line up ahead with films like Sarfira, Sky Force, Welcome to the Jungle, Shankara, Khel Khel Mein among others.
