I WANTED TO GO WITH A COMPLETELY NEW TEAM: MARI SELVARAJ

Acclaimed filmmaker Mari Selvaraj has kickstarted his film with Dhruv Vikram, a sports drama revolving around kabadi that has now been titled Bison. The film, which has Anupama Parameswaran as the female lead, will also have Rajisha Vijayan, Lal, Pasupathy, Kalaiyarasan and Hari Krishnan in key roles.

Talking to us from Tirunelveli, where the shoot is underway, Mari told us, “This film will revolve around kabadi, but contrary to reports, it’s not a biopic, but a fictional one. We will be shooting a 60-day schedule in Tirunelveli and then move to Chennai to can the remaining portions.” The title, and the tagline, ‘Kaalamaadan’, have thematic significance and will be understood by the audience when they watch the film, he added.

Meanwhile, the Karnan director has now roped in young composer Nivas Prasanna to do the music of the film. While there is speculation that this is due to the fallout between Santhosh Narayanan, his regular composer, and Pa Ranjith, who is bankrolling the film, Mari clarifies, “This script demanded fresh treatment, which is why I wanted to go with a completely new team.”
