VETRIMAARAN CONFIRMS SURIYA-STARRER VAADIVAASAL IS NOT SHELVED

In 2022, it was announced that director Vetrimaaran and actor Suriya are coming together for a film titled Vaadivasal. The announcement was welcomed by Suriya fans as it marks the star's first collaboration with the acclaimed director. A concept poster of the film was released which featured an ancient coin with a bull. A promo of Suriya training for jallikattu (a traditional bull-taming game in Tamil Nadu) went viral. However, after such initial teasers, the film failed to progress, much to the disappointment of fans, who were further discouraged by rumours that the film is shelved. Now, Vetrimaaran has put an end to all such speculations and has confirmed that Vaadivasal is very much on the cards.

In a Behindwoods event, the director interacted with the public. When he was asked when Vada Chennai 2 would be released, Vetrimaaran said, "I even don't know when Viduthalai 2 will be released. It is a completed film. So, I don't know when Vada Chennai will happen. After this (Viduthalai 2), I will start working on Vaadivasal. Only after that project, I will know what I am going to do next."

While Dhanush fans have to wait for Vada Chennai 2 without a timeline, fans of Suriya can rejoice with the fact that Vaadivasal is on the cards. The film, produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu, is based on a Tamil novella of the same name. The story follows the story of a youngster who wants to tame a bull which is notorious for killing anyone who dares to do so. Andrea Jeremiah and Ameer are part of the film, which is still in the nascent stage.

Meanwhile, Suriya has teamed up with Karthik Subbaraj for an untitled film. The actor has put Puranaanooru, his movie with Sudha Kongara, on hold for now. Suriya is also busy with the post-production work of his ambitious project Kanguva, directed by Siva. Also starring Bobby Deol and Disha Patani, the film will be released this year. He will be making a cameo in Sarfira, the Hindi remake of Soorarai Pottru, which has Akshay Kumar in the lead role.
