After a long while, you have decided to take up yoga again. But the real question is how to stay consistent. Agree? From waking up early to brushing off laziness, it does require more than commitment to turn up regularly. If you have been missing out on the much-needed inspiration, here's some from Kareena Kapoor Khan.

Her trainer Anshuka Parwani took to Instagram to share a glimpse of the Jaane Jaan actor living up to her reputation of being a fitness buff. Kareena can be seen doing a variety of exercises involving yoga props like a yoga block, yoga wheel etc.

"Here’s a tiny glimpse of @kareenakapoorkhan making every practice count on the yoga mat. Her consistent grit and determination to be her best at every yoga asana and push her limits to get better and stronger makes her the powerhouse she is," Parwani said.

She added, "I cannot articulate the joy I feel after every rewarding practice I share with my students."

Calling yoga "a low impact form of exercise that demands discipline, motivation and consistency", fitness expert Garima Goyal shared that one needs to begin by setting a routine with realistic goals in the mind and start slowly so that you improve your body form over time.

Short-term practice may help with opening up the muscles, improve flexibility and strength, but being consistent with your practice for months/ years will bring in change in your whole personality, described yoga expert Prity Maniar Dal, founder, The Womb Story. "How you are on the mat for that one hour of your yoga practice, will speak volumes about how you are in your life. The more you can balance in a posture, the better you are at staying calm and balanced not only in your life but the situations that you come across," said Dal.

If you too struggle with consistency, here's some help from Goyal.

*Make it a part of your routine - Consistency demands a daily hour at least and for this, either plan your day or a weekly routine, in which giving at least an hour to yoga is a must. Choose the place where you want to practice yoga as well as the time and closely sticking to it will help you to make yoga an essential part of your daily life.

*Your goals should be realistic - In your mind, you should know your goal well to achieve it whether you want to practice yoga to decrease stress, improve the body’s flexibility, or master a specific yoga mudra. Track your progress by taking baby steps and then reviewing how far you have come.

*Patience and discipline are a must - This journey of yoga may not be linear but it's always progressing and rewarding. Yoga not only works on the outer shape but also works on an internal level by making people self-aware. Be patient and kind to yourself and aim for each session. Your tiny victories should be celebrated and with consistency, you will see yourself flying.

*Take one step at a time - If you are a beginner or starting yoga after a long break, understand well that your body needs time. Starting sessions should be easy to perform and short in duration and gradually increase the timing and intensity of your yoga sessions with improving strength and flexibility.

*Make use of yoga props - Certain yoga props are available in the market that make yoga postures accessible and enjoyable such as blocks, straps, bolsters, etc. Use them to get appropriate support and practice yoga comfortably. With passing time, you will be able to practice it without the help of props too!

*Make your session interesting - Yoga is a very diverse form of exercise so make your session diverse too! This will prevent boredom and maintain your interest in yoga. For this, try various asanas and also plan your week where you divide the week as per different exercises, say one day for poses, one day for core exercises, one day for stretching, etc.

*Having a partner or team stays the best - Another key to consistency is performing with your favourite buddy or a team so either join some yoga group or go to some class with family or friend. This is quintessential for achieving motivation, encouragement, and a sense of belongingness.

*Make a ‘sacred’ space for ‘sacred’ yoga - To practice yoga mindfully with peace, you need to denote a place in your home for yoga. This will create a peaceful and motivating atmosphere for yoga, free from distractions.

*Yoga is not just about poses, it's about realising your consciousness - Goyal described that yoga is not just about yogic postures and their mastering, rather you have to pay attention to your breath. This in reality means realising the existence of yourself by the breaths you take. During any sort of movement, pay attention to your breath to stay present, to self-realise your consciousness, and to stay connected.

*Track your progress - Make a journal to document your progress. After each day session, write it down about how you feel physically and emotionally. You will be amused by how yoga will transform your emotions.
