APPLE IPHONE 15 PRO MAX CHOSEN AS THE BEST-SELLING SMARTPHONE OF Q1 2024

Counterpoint, a technology market research firm, on Monday, released the list of the top 10 best-selling smartphones across the world in the first quarter of 2024, and the list is dominated by Apple and Samsung. For the first time ever, all the 10 phones on the list are 5G capable devices, with Apple's flagship -- iPhone 15 Pro Max (review) being the top seller with a market share of 4.4 per cent.

The iPhone 15 is in the second position with a 4.3 per cent market share, and the iPhone 15 Pro (review) and the iPhone 14 are in the third and fourth position, respectively. Samsung's flagship offering - the Galaxy S24 Ultra (review) is in the fifth position with a market of 1.9 per cent.

For Apple, all four variants of the iPhone 15 series have done well, and over 60 per cent of the iPhone revenue comes from the Pro iPhone models, despite the price increase, as users are willing to spend more on premium features.

Out of the top 10 best-selling smartphones of this year, five are from Apple and the rest from Samsung, where budget smartphones like Galaxy A15 and the Galaxy A34 (review) have also made to the list. Out of the 10, seven smartphones are considered premium devices, which cost over $600, and this trend clearly indicates that Apple's Pro iPhone lineup is gaining popularity across the world.

The report also points towards the fact that the AI-powered Galaxy S24 series has helped Samsung to report a strong performance, and the report also indicates that, going forward, more consumers are likely to go for a flagship smartphone, as they stay relevant for years.
