GOOGLE WILL LAUNCH THREE PIXEL 9 MODELS? HERE IS EVERYTHING WE KNOW SO FAR

While Google is currently planning its developer event I/O in May, the next big thing from Google after the event is expected to be the launch of its Pixel 9 series. Traditionally, Google unveils its flagship phones in October, and 2024 is likely to follow suit. With new and impressive cameras, clean software, and a new Tensor processor, the new Pixels are expected to deliver a more powerful Android experience.

However, unlike the two Pixel phones launched last year, there could be three new Pixel devices this time around, including the standard Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and Pixel 9 Pro XL. While specifics are under wraps, here's everything we know so far about the Pixel 9 series based on rumours and speculations.

Three Pixels

Latest rumours suggest the Pixel 9 series could include three models: the base Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and Pixel 9 Pro XL. The Pixel 9 Pro XL would have the same high-end specifications as the Pro model but with a larger display. This might be in line with Apple's strategy of offering different options for users based on preferences. Additionally, Google is also expected to launch its new foldable within the series as Pixel 9 Fold.

Design and Display

According to recent CAD-based renders, the Pixel 9 series might bring some changes to Google's design language. The Pixel 9 might borrow design cues from the iPhone 15, featuring a flat metal frame and an updated oval-shaped camera module, deviating from the previous generation's design. The standard Pixel 9 could have a 6.03-inch display, slightly smaller than the Pro models. The camera bar could also see a change, transforming from a full-width bar to a standalone oval island.

Adaptive Touch

As for the features One potential new feature for the Pixel 9 series is "Adaptive Touch," building on the "screen protector mode" introduced in the Pixel 8 series. Adaptive Touch adjusts touchscreen sensitivity based on environmental conditions, such as increasing sensitivity for glove usage in cold weather or adjusting for water on the screen.

Cameras

As for the camera lens, leaks suggest that the base model may come with a dual-camera setup, while the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL might feature three cameras at the back. The introduction of a smaller Pixel 9 Pro also  hints at a possible triple-camera setup (including telephoto zoom) for that model, similar to the larger Pixel 8 Pro.

Chipset and Software

Under the hood, the Pixel 9 series is rumoured to be powered by Google's next-gen Tensor G4 chipset, which has yet to be announced. With the new processor, the Pixels will run on Android 15, the newest iteration of the Android operating system. Google will showcase Android 15 at its Google I/O conference in May, offering a glimpse into the latest features and enhancements.

The new OS update includes features like improved privacy settings and camera controls, with satellite messaging potentially joining the mix to compete with Apple's Emergency SOS. Generative AI features are also anticipated. Regarding software support, Google is known for its lengthy software support, and the Pixel 9 series is expected to follow suit, potentially receiving updates until 2031.

Pricing and Availability

Google is expected to launch the Pixel 9 series in October 2024, following the traditional release schedule of previous Pixel devices. However, we may see a teaser or additional information during the Google I/O conference in May, possibly including news on the more affordable Pixel 8A. While details around Pixel 9 are scarce, leaks suggest that the Pixel 8A could be more expensive than its predecessor in Europe. This could indicate that the Pixel 9 series may also experience a price increase, although this remains speculative.

It is important to note that all these details are based on rumours and Google might surprise us with something entirely different. However, overall, the available leaks and renders paint an exciting picture for the Pixel 9 series release for 2024. With potential design changes, a powerful new chipset, and possible improvements in camera technology.
