CIVIL SERVICES 2023 RESULTS OUT. 3 OF TOP 5 ALL-INDIA RANK HOLDERS ARE IPS TRAINEES ALREADY

New Delhi: Aditya Srivastava, Animesh Pradhan and Donuru Ananya Reddy have topped the civil services examination of 2023 in that order. This is the first time in 11 years that an IPS secured rank 1 in the civil services examination.

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) announced the results Tuesday for the civil services examination 2023 which will fill 180 IAS, 37 IFS and 200 IPS posts. Apart from this, there are also 613 Central Services Group ‘A’ and 113 Group ‘B’ Services posts that are to be filled through these examinations.

Aditya Srivastava is currently undergoing training for the Indian Police Service in Hyderabad and so are his batchmates P K Sidharth Ramkumar, who has secured fourth rank and Ruhani, who secured  fifth rank.

“Appointment to the various Services will be made according to the number of vacancies available with due consideration to the provisions contained in the Rules for the Examination,” read a press statement issued by the UPSC.

The interviews – which is the final phase of the civil services examination – started on 2 January and ended on 9 April, being conducted in three phases. A total of 2,843 candidates were interviewed for 1,105 vacancies.

In the last two years, women have dominated all top positions. Ishita Kishore secured all-India rank 1, followed by Garima Lohia, Uma Harathi N. and Smriti Mishra in 2022.

The overall pass percentage of women has increased over the last few years. While it remained a constant 24 percent in 2018 and 2019, the rate of successful women candidates increased to 29 percent in 2020 but fell by 3 points in 2021. However, in 2022, it jumped to 34 percent. Last year, over one-third of the 933 candidates (320) recommended for appointment were women.

The UPSC Civil Service Prelims Examination 2023 was held on 28 May. Candidates who cleared the prelims round were eligible to appear for the mains examination, which took place on 15, 16, 17, 23, and 24 September, in two shifts – from 9 am to 12 pm and from 2 pm to 5 pm. UPSC CSE mains result was announced on 8 December.
