BRAZIL FLOODS: VIDEOS OF LANDSLIDES, FLOODING IN RIO GRANDE DO SUL SPARK CONCERN

As heavy rains wreaked havoc in Brazil’s Rio Grande do Sul, social media platforms were also abuzz with a wave of posts and videos of the floods, landslides and the destruction.

This also sparked a lot of concerns among netizens and many urged people across the globe to reach out for help.

One user shared a video stating, “The worst floods in 80 years have hit Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Close relatives of a family in our church are trapped in their building with waters continuing to rise and no obvious way of escape. The situation is critical. Prayers greatly appreciated. Psalm 93 gives us hope.”

Another post by @theweathernetwork shared how a ferry was overturned when the floods in Brazil carried it into a submerged bridge. According to a report by Reuters, many are missing with 74 individuals unaccounted for, and over 69,000 displaced as the storm swept away two-thirds of the state’s 497 cities.

Even a drone footage was shared on X where it was mentioned that the death toll has climbed up to 78.

Rio Grande do Sul also shares borders with Uruguay and Argentina, and the partial collapse of a dam at a hydroelectric power plant has wrecked the state.
