Benchmark stock indices opened lower on Thursday with increased volatility dampening investor sentiment.
The S&P BSE Sensex declined by 0.2% to 73,311, while the NSE Nifty50 also dropped 0.2% to 22,264 as of 9:23 AM.Â
L&T shares fell by 5.6% in early trading and were poised to be the top percentage loser on Nifty50 due to a forecast of low revenue growth.
The volatility index increased by 2.6% to 17.51, marking its eleventh consecutive session of gains, driven by foreign selling amid uncertainty over Lok Sabha election outcomes, which continued to unsettle investors.
