WHATSAPP TO BRING MORE CHANGES TO ITS CHAT FILTERS, HERE IS WHAT WE CAN EXPECT

WhatsApp recently introduced chat filters so that users could keep a tab on their conversations. The chats, even on WhatsApp web, are now split into All, Unread and Groups. With the feature, people can find conversations with their favourite contacts easier and faster. And by having a separate filter for group, one can easily check all messages received in various groups. However, as per latest reports, the instant messaging app is planning to enhance the chat filter feature even more.

According to a report in WA Beta Info, the latest WhatsApp beta for Android update version 2.24.10.8 reveals that WhatsApp is working to give users more control over managing device storage. Building upon the earlier introduction of chat filtering capabilities, WhatsApp will allow users to filter their conversation list specifically for storage management purposes.

The update will introduce the option to filter conversations or channels within the storage management section. Hence, users will be able to focus on specific types of content. By segregating conversations and channels, users can easily identify which content is occupying the most storage space on their devices, facilitating efficient cleanup processes and storage optimisation.

This feature is particularly beneficial in scenarios where users have multiple accounts or channels with similar names and icons, which could cause confusion during storage management. With the new filtering mechanism, WhatsApp empowers users to differentiate between various types of content, reducing the risk of accidental deletion or mismanagement of important data.

Currently available to select beta testers, the chat filtering feature for managing storage is accessible through the latest WhatsApp beta for Android update on the Google Play Store. WhatsApp aims to gradually roll out this feature to more users in the coming days, ensuring broader accessibility and improved storage management capabilities for all.

Meanwhile, it was recently reported that WhatsApp was on its way to rollout a feature that would help it take action against suspicious accounts.

According to a previous report by WA Beta Info, WhatsApp is testing a new feature to restrict certain user accounts. As per the portal, WhatsApp is experimenting with a feature that will allow a temporary restriction of user accounts from sending messages. The report added that when an account is restricted on WhatsApp, users will temporarily lose the ability to initiate new chats as a penalty for specific violations. However, users under restriction will still be able to receive messages and respond to them in existing chats and groups, so that important communication can be carried out. This feature is expected to be introduced in a future update of the app.

The report further added that the account restriction feature is designed to combat abusive behaviour, spam-like activities, and other violations of WhatsApp's terms of service. WhatsApp utilises automated tools to detect such activities, which analyse behavioural patterns without accessing the content of messages and calls, as they are end-to-end encrypted.
