NOIDA AUTHORITY FREES 18 ACRES OF PLOT WORTH RS 308 CRORE FROM LAND MAFIAS

With an aim to put a curb on encroachment of government land and illegal sale of plots, the Noida Authority has reclaimed 71,885 square metres (17.7 acres) of land, worth over Rs 308 crore, since March 1, officials said.

They said that the authority has observed that the government land was encroached at several locations in the city and land parcels were being sold illegally by misleading common public. Authority officials said that the crackdown against land mafias will continue in the coming months.

“The Noida Authority had identified multiple sectors, villages, and areas specially along the Noida Expressway, where land mafias had encroached upon the government land and were attempting to sell plots to the gullible public. The Authority had carried out an anti-encroachment drive in 14 places, including 20-25 plots of land in around 11-12 different villages and sectors of Noida. In the crackdown, illegal construction by the land mafia were demolished in presence of police force,” a senior official of the Noida Authority told Moneycontrol.

He said that appropriate legal action will also be taken against the land mafias and encroachers.

Noida Authority CEO Lokesh M has also appealed to the public not to get mislead by real estate agents and land mafias and not to invest in any plot without verifying records with the authority.

The anti-encroachment drive was conducted in villages such as Sorkha Zahidabad, Salarpur, Asadullapur, Mohiyapur, Sadarpur, Mamura, Garhi Samastipur, Gulawali and Salarpur Khadar.

“During the drive, the Noida Authority has freed around 71,885 square metres (17.76 acre) of land from land mafias and squatters since March 1. The cumulative market value of the land retained is around Rs 308.8 crore,” another Noida Authority official said.

According to data given by the authority, the highest encroachment was found in Sorkha Zahidabad and Salarpur villages located in Sectors 76, 78, 79 and 118 where six drives were conducted to retain the landworth Rs 195 crore. It was followed by the removal of encroachment from 15,000 square metres of land in Salarpur Khadar village and Sector 78, having a market value of Rs 72 crore.
