ALI FAZAL JOINS MANI RATNAM'S 'THUG LIFE': HONOUR TO SHARE NOTES WITH KAMAL HAASAN
Ali Fazal is making his highly anticipated debut in the South Indian film industry with Mani Ratnam's Tamil film 'Thug Life'. The film is headlined by Kamal Haasan and also stars Silambarasan aka Simbu, Trisha and Aishwarya Lekshmi, among others. Fazal shared a note on his social media handle to announce the same.Â
On May 9, the makers of 'Thug Life' officially shared that Ali Fazal has been roped in for the upcoming actioner. It is touted that he will be playing a leading role alongside Kamal Haasan.Â
Ali Fazal expressed his excitement and shared, "I am truly thrilled to be a part of Mani Sir's vision for 'Thug Life.' And i can only hope i bring something of significance to this canvas . It's also an honour to work alongside Kamal Haasan Sir and share notes with him on this. The opportunity to collaborate with two stalwarts of Indian cinema has been humbling. I am deeply grateful to Mani Sir for entrusting me with this role and am eager to bring it to life on screen".

Mani Ratnam and Kamal Haasan are reuniting for 'Thug Life' after 36 years. Their last collaboration was their blockbuster flick, 'Nayakan'. 'Thug Life' is about thuggees, who are professional robbers and murderers in India. The film's promo was unveiled in November 2023.

The story of 'Thug Life' is written by Kamal Haasan. The film has an ensemble cast including Kamal Haasan, Trisha, Abhirami, Nasser, Ali Fazal, Pankaj Tripathi, Gautham Karthik, Joju George, Aishwarya Lekshmi and Vaiyapuri in pivotal roles.
Earlier, Jayam Ravi was roped in to play an important role. However, he has backed out due to date issues. Now, it is said that Ashok Selvan has been chosen for that role.
Jointly produced by Raaj Kamal Films International, Madras Talkies and Red Giant Movies, 'Thug Life' has music composed by AR Rahman, editing by Sreekar Prasad and cinematography by Ravi K Chandran.
