ARVIND KEJRIWAL, MANISH SISODIA, K KAVITHA TO STAY IN JAIL AS COURT EXTENDS THEIR CUSTODY

A Delhi court on Tuesday extended the judicial custody of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader K Kavitha in connection with the money laundering allegations being probed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) linked to the now-scrapped Delhi excise policy case.

While Kejriwal's judicial custody has been extended till May 20, K Kavitha's judicial custody has been extended till May 14.

And in the case being probed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the court also extended the judicial custody of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Manish Sisodia and K Kavitha, a Telangana MLC and daughter of former chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao. Sisodia's custody has been extended till 15th May 15, and K Kavitha's judicial custody has been extended till May 20.

The special judge for CBI and ED matters, Kaveri Baweja, extended their custody after they were produced before the court on the expiry of their remand.

Kejriwal and Sisodia were produced before Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court virtually today, while K Kavitha was physically present.

Notably, Kejriwal was arrested on March 21 by the ED after the Delhi High Court refused to grant him protection from coercive action by the central agency.

Meanwhile, Kavitha was also arrested by the central agencies on March 15 in connection with the Delhi liquor policy case.

Manish Sisodia has been behind bars since he was arrested by the CBI in February last year, followed by arrest in the ED case.
