'GAVE SO MUCH TIME, SACRIFICED SLEEP': INDIAN ENGINEER, LAID OFF BY TESLA, FACES H1-B VISA DEADLINE

New Delhi: Mass layoffs in various global firms continue to haunt workers including Indians with clouds of uncertainty adding to the confusion. Among the recent layoffs by Tesla is an engineer from Mumbai. Elon Musk's recent layoff announcement aiming to cut short the global workforce by over 10 per cent has left many shocked.

The man worked at the company for nearly six years in the United States. However, following the news, he took to LinkedIn to express his pain and disappointment.

"It feels like a bad dream that I am no longer in Tesla as I have given so much of my time and sacrifice my sleep to this organisation from last more than five years," the man reportedly wrote on LinkedIn, as per Hindustan Times.

The man further said that he is in the US on an H-1B visa, and now facing a stiff deadline of just two months to find a new job in the country. If he fails in securing one, he will have to leave the US, the report added him as saying.

H-1B is a popular non-immigrant work visa that Indian engineers utilise to work in the US.

LinkedIn is at present filled with several such posts wherein Indian and Chinese employees have posted the need of a job so that they can sustain and stay in the US. Not only migrants, many US citizens are actively looking for jobs amid the lay off cycles that has been traumatising employees for a long time now.

According to reports, Elon Musk owned electric vehicle giant Tesla has initiated layoffs in its software, service, and engineering departments, as reported by tech publication Electrek on Monday. This development follows Tesla's recent decision to disband its electric vehicle charging department and reduce its global workforce by over 10 per cent.

Employees at Tesla reportedly received emails over the weekend informing them of the layoffs as part of broader workforce reductions.
