HEATWAVE ALERT TODAY: HEAVY RAIN THREAT FOR THESE STATES; RELIEF FROM SCORCHING TEMPERATURES? CHECK IMD ALERT

Heatwave alert today: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a comprehensive weather forecast detailing prevailing conditions and expected changes across various regions of the country. Yesterday, heat wave to severe heat wave conditions were observed in isolated pockets of Gangetic West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, and Bihar, with heat wave conditions in additional pockets of Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Odisha, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, Telangana, and Interior Karnataka. Notably, the highest maximum temperature of 46.0°C was recorded at Nandyal in Rayalaseema.

Weather Systems and Forecast:

Several weather systems are influencing different parts of the country. A cyclonic circulation over northeast Assam and another over northeast Bihar, coupled with a trough extending to North Odisha, are expected to bring fairly widespread to widespread rainfall across northeastern states. Meanwhile, a cyclonic circulation over Marathwada and a trough running to south Tamil Nadu will likely result in isolated to scattered rainfall over southern regions. Additionally, a Western Disturbance is anticipated to impact northwest India, bringing isolated to scattered rainfall over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and other northern states.

Temperature Outlook:

Maximum temperatures ranged between 42-45°C in various regions yesterday, with some areas experiencing temperatures above normal by 3-5°C. A rise in maximum temperatures by about 2°C is expected over Northwest and Central India in the next three days, while East India may witness a fall by 4-6°C thereafter. No significant changes are forecasted in maximum temperatures for the rest of the country.

Heat wave to severe heat wave conditions are forecasted in isolated pockets across several states, including Gangetic West Bengal, Bihar, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and others. Hot and humid weather is expected in isolated pockets of Gujarat, Jharkhand, and other regions. Additionally, rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning has been observed at various places, with significant rainfall recorded in several states, including Arunachal Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Nagaland, Manipur, and others.
