INDIA WEATHER UPDATE: IMD WARNS OF SEVERE HEATWAVE IN THESE STATES, CHECK FULL FORECAST HERE

As scorching temperature grips India, people are seen grappling with persistent heatwave across the nation. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) in its latest bulletin has said that a severe heatwave condition is expected to occur in East India, with the chances of expansion to additional areas of the region starting from April 24th. This weather condition is expected to continue for the next five days.

States where heatwave is expected

Severe heat wave conditions are very likely to persist in isolated pockets of Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Bihar, East Uttar Pradesh, West Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, and Sub Himalayan West Bengal.

On the contrary, heavy rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds, is anticipated at isolated locations in Northeast India. Meanwhile, moderate thunderstorms, along with lightning and gusty winds, are forecasted over East and Central India for the next two days.

Chances of snowfall?

There is an indication of light to moderate rainfall or snowfall in various regions including in Arunachal Pradesh, a few areas in Jammu Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, and isolated spots in Himachal Pradesh. Cyclonic circulations are noted over northeast Assam and northeast Bangladesh in the lower tropospheric levels. This may likely lead to fairly widespread precipitation, isolated thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds across Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura from today and will continue till 28th.

Isolated light to moderate rainfall is anticipated over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim for the next two days. Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal, and Jharkhand will continue to have the same weather conditions today. Additionally, isolated heavy rainfall is expected in Arunachal Pradesh from April 23rd to 24th with the likelihood of very heavy rainfall on April 23rd.

Temperature Change:

There’s no significant change forecasted in maximum temperatures over Northwest India for the next two days, with a gradual rise of 2-4°C thereafter. Similarly, Maharashtra and Central India are expected to see no significant temperature changes in the next 24 hours, followed by a rise of 2-3°C thereafter.
