IRAS OFFICER SLAMS PUMA AD FEATURING MILIND SOMAN JOGGING ON RAILWAY TRACKS: ‘IT’S TREATED AS TRESPASSING’

Ananth Rupanagudi, an Indian Railway Accounts Service (IRAS) officer, slammed the recent advertisement by Puma featuring Milind Soman. The ad shows the fitness model jogging through the railway tracks, triggering a debate on social media. Sharing the ad on X, IRAS officer Rupanagudi asked the brand to put a disclaimer on the video.

The viral ad begins with a serene bird-eye view of a forest. The frame then shifts to Milind Soman who can be seen jogging on the road passing through the forest. He stretches a bit and continues to jog across the terrain, including a railway track. The video ends with Soman sweating as he crosses a tunnel.

Tagging the Ministry of Railways and Puma on X, Rupanagudi wrote, “I have a problem with this ad, @PUMA. Railway tracks aren’t meant for jogging and it’s treated as trespassing. @milindrunning- you should have verified this before shooting this ad. @PUMA, please put a disclaimer on this ad.”

Rupanagudi’s post triggered a debate on the platform with a section of users backing the ad. Reacting to it, a social media user argued, “While residing at a cottage in Lovedale, Ooty, the railway tracks parallel path was the only access and hence most of the times, I used to walk on the tracks to reach home. Of course this section of the railway witnessed only the mountain train chugging occasionally.” Another user commented, “I don’t see any issue with the ad. Aren’t we nitpicking.”

“Adding a disclaimer makes sense, as a responsible entity. However, had it been shot on IR tracks, who gave permission? If not shot on IR tracks, then what’s bothering IR?” a third user react
