SIDHU MOOSE WALA DAD IN FRAY FROM BATHINDA?

BATHINDA: There is nothing official about it, but the buzz in Bathinda is that slain Punjabi singer and rapper Shubhdeep Singh alias Sidhu Moose Wala's father Balkaur Singh might contest the Lok Sabha elections from the seat as an independent candidate.

Balkaur Singh on Wednesday stayed away from mediapersons as a regional news channel claimed that the family is learnt to be getting nomination papers prepared for him.

A relative neither denied nor confirmed the development.

Sources close to the family claim that Balkaur Singh is also in touch with Congress leaders and the party may even think to reconsider its candidate.

On Tuesday, Balkaur Singh handed over a letter containing nine points to Congress candidate Jet Mohinder Singh Sidhu when he had gone to meet him seeking support. Balkaur Singh had uploaded the copy of the letter on social media.

Punjab Congress president Amrinder Singh Raja Warring, when contacted, said, "Sidhu Moose Wala's family is our own family. Initially, Balkaur Singh was approached but he had declined. I am not aware if he has changed his mind now."

Earlier, during his weekly addresses to fans of Sidhu Moose Wala at his home on Sundays, Balkaur Singh had hinted of joining politics, saying he is not averse to jump into politics if such a situation develops.

He had even gone to Jalandhar in May 2023 to campaign against AAP govt in the byelection accusing it of denying him justice in the killing of his son. He along with his wife Charan Kaur had even sat on protest at the civil secretariat in Chandigarh.

Sidhu Moose Wala had contested the Feb 2022 assembly elections from Mansa and lost to Aam Aadmi Party candidate Vijay Singla.

He was shot dead on May 29, 2022.
