THIS IS WHY PATANJALI'S LICENSES FOR 14 PRODUCTS ARE CANCELLED

Patanjali Ayurveda is an Indian multinational conglomerate which produces hundreds of Ayurvedic food items and pharmacy products. As per the latest report, in an affidavit filed in the Supreme Court, Uttarakhand licensing authority has said that it has suspended licenses of 14 products manufactured by Patanjali's Divya Pharmacy.

The action is taken in response to a misleading advertisement case, where Patanjali's Divya Pharmacy had promoted the products wrongly.

The banned products include Divya Pharmacy's Drishti Eye drop, Swasari Gold, Swasari Vati, Bronchom, Swasari Pravahi, Swasari Avaleh, Mukta Vati Extra Power, Lipidom, Bp Grit, Madhugiri, Madhunashini Vati Extra Power, Livamrit Advance, Livogrit and Eyegrit Gold.

As per reports, the Supreme Court will hear the matter related to the apology published by Yoga guru Ramdev and his associate Acharya Balkrishna on April 30. Both of them will be present in the court on Tuesday.

During the last hearing on April 23, the Supreme Court had pulled up Patanjali for not displaying their apology "prominently" in newspapers. The court had also asked if the size of the apology put out in newspapers by Patanjali was equivalent to its full-page advertisements for its said products as well.

In response to which Patanjali had said it had published an apology in 67 newspapers, asserting it had the utmost respect for the court and their mistakes would not be repeated.

After the court's order, Patanjali published another apology in newspapers, which was bigger than the previous apology.

If earlier reports are to be believed, in November 2023, the Supreme Court had directed Patanjali to stop advertisements of its products that it claimed to treat ailments and disorders specified in the Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, 1954. And this action was taken during the hearing of a plea filed by the Indian Medical Association (IMA) seeking action against Ramdev for criticising modern medicine.
