Char Dham Yatra 2024: Religious fervor starts when people speak about Kedarnath, Badrinath, Yamunotri, and Gangotri. No matter what the age is, Indians never skip a chance to visit these religious places for spiritual solace.

According to recent reports, Lord Kedarnath's Panchmukhi Doli departed for Kedarnath Dham from its third stop Gauramai Temple Gaurikund on May 6th at 8.30 am. The Devdoli reached Shri Omkareshwar Temple Ukhimath from Shri Vishwanath Temple Guptkashi for its stay and reached its second stop Phata on May 7th. The Panchmukhi Doli reached Gauramaata Temple Gaurikund late in the evening on 8th May.

Adding more information to this Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC) President Ajendra Ajay said, "The preparations for the opening of the doors are going on in full swing and the temple is being decorated with 40 quintals of flowers,"

Char Dham Yatra opening date 2024:

The Char Dham Yatra, a significant pilgrimage in Hinduism, commences on May 10 this year. The doors of three of the four shrines—Gangotri, Yamunotri, and Kedarnath—will open on this auspicious day. The final shrine, Badrinath, will open its doors on May 12. Pilgrims traditionally complete this sacred journey in a clockwise direction, starting from Yamunotri and concluding at Badrinath.

To participate in the Char Dham Yatra, registration is necessary, which can be completed through various methods:

Online Registration:

  • Register at the designated registration center.
  • Alternatively, use the Tourist Care Uttarakhand app available on Android and iOS platforms.
  • Registration can also be done via Whatsapp by sending a message "Yatra" to +91 8394833833.
Mandatory Registration:

  • Registration has been mandatory since 2014.
  • Each devotee receives a QR code upon registration.
  • Registered individuals gain access to attractions and services like pooja booking, helicopter service, and darshan timings information.

How to Reach Each Destination:

1. Kedarnath:

  • Take Yatra Buses from Rishikesh or Haridwar.
  • Taxi services are available from Haridwar and Rishikesh to Gaurikund.
  • From Gaurikund, embark on a 17-km uphill trek to Kedarnath Dham.
  • Pony, doli (palanquin), and helicopter shuttle services are also accessible.

2. Badrinath:

  • Buses and taxis are available from Rishikesh and Haridwar.
  • Badrinath is approximately 300 km from Rishikesh and 320 km from Haridwar.

3. Yamunotri:

  • Travel to Janki Chatti, approximately 220 km from Rishikesh by road.
  • Taxis and buses are readily accessible.
  • From Janki Chatti, embark on a 5-km uphill journey to Yamunotri Dham.
  • Pony and doli services are available.
4. Gangotri:

  • Gangotri has good road connectivity.
  • The distance from Rishikesh to Gangotri is around 270 km.
  • Buses or taxis can be booked easily from Rishikesh and Haridwar.
