ILAIYARAAJA DOESN'T HOLD THE COPYRIGHT FOR THE SONG 'VA VA PAKKAM VA' FEATURED IN THE 'COOLIE' TEASER- DEETS INSIDE

Ilaiyaraaja, the legendary composer, has scored music for more than 1000 films, and he is an inspiration for many younger generation stars. However, the legendary composer gets disappointed if his songs are used without proper permission, as he owns the copyright for those songs. Accordingly, Ilaiyaraaja recently got angry on the makers of the 'Coolie' title teaser, as Rajinikanth and Lokesh Kanagaraj's film title teaser video had a glimpse of lines from his song 'Va Va Pakkam Va' from 'Thangamagan'. Ilaiyaraaja has sent a notice to 'Coolie' makers through his legal team and demanded the team seek proper approval for the song usage or remove the song from the title teaser.

It appears that Ilaiyaraaja doesn't hold the copyright for the song 'Va Va Pakkam Va' featured in the 'Coolie' teaser. According to film critic Sathish Kumar's social media post, a well-known music label owns the rights to the original song, which was used in the teaser. Apparently, this music label was acquired by the musical partner of the 'Coolie' team, leading to the sale of the song to the makers of 'Coolie'. Consequently, Ilaiyaraaja may not be able to claim copyright infringement for the 'Disco Disco' song featured in the 'Coolie' teaser. If Ilaiyaraaja decides to pursue legal action, the outcome will hinge on various legal factors and interpretations of copyright law.

Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, 'Coolie' is reported to be an action drama, and Rajinikanth will be seen playing a gold smuggler. Anirudh Ravichander is scoring the music, and the film's pre-production work has reached the final stage.
