BAYERN MUNICH EYEING FORMER MANAGER AS THOMAS TUCHEL REPLACEMENT: REPORTS

Bayern Munich have been in dire search of a manager as the German club will be parting ways with Thomas Tuchel in the summer. They already lost the Bundesliga title to Bayer Leverkusen this season and their Champions League fate could be decided when they take on Arsenal this week.

Julian Nagelsmann has emerged as a top candidate to be the next Bayern manager as per multiple reports. Ironically Tuchel replaced Nagelsmann last year as the then board of the German club was in favour of getting rid of the manager at that time.

But since then a lot of water has flown under the bridge as two influential board members Oliver Kahn and Hasan Salihamidžić are no longer a part of the board. The former RB Leipzig manager is currently in charge of the Germany Football Team and will oversee the team during the EURO 2024 which will be staged on the home soil this time.

Reputed Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg confirmed that the German club is inclined towards appointing the former Hoffenheim boss. As quoted by iMiaSanMia he said, “Bayern have made their decision - the club wants Julian Nagelsmann as new coach. Max Eberl and Christoph Freund are in concrete talks and negotiations with Nagelsmann’s agents, talks are advanced.“Bayern are offering a 3 to 4 year contract. Nagelsmann has not given his final approval yet. The DFB are still hoping he would extend his contract as Germany coach until 2026. As of now, Nagelsmann has neither accepted nor rejected either offer - but the tendency is rather towards Bayern.”

This will be a two pronged race as the German Football Association also wants to extend his service. His current deal will expire after the European Championship and DFB wants to secure his employment for a prolonged period keeping in view of the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Nagelsmann hasn’t approved of anything and it remains to be seen how things will unfold in the near future.
