Drake's Toronto mansion has become the focus of a police investigation after a shooting early Tuesday morning. The incident occurred outside the Canadian rapper's home in Bridle Path at about 2:10 a.m. local time, according to CBS News. Toronto Police said in an announcement on X, formerly known as Twitter, that a victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries, while the suspect fled the scene in a vehicle.
Authorities stated to CityNews that the injured person was not Drake, but TMZ reported that the victim was a member of Drake's security team. The police confirmed that the man sustained a gunshot wound to the upper chest. It appears that the shooting was a drive-by attack.
This shooting has raised questions about whether it is connected to the recent feud between Drake and rapper Kendrick Lamar. However, police have not yet confirmed if there's any link. Tammie Sutherland, an anchor for CityNews Toronto, shared photos of the scene on X, along with the message, “A look at the scene surrounding the home of rapper Drake as police investigate a shooting in the upscale area. Police confirm to @CityNewsTO that Drake was NOT the man injured.”
The incident comes amid Drake's ongoing feud with Lamar, triggered by Lamar's diss track, which claimed that Drake has a secret daughter and referred to him as a gambling and drug addict, according to USA Today. This shooting has added to concerns over Drake's mansion, which has been a topic of much discussion recently. The opulent property is also featured on the cover of Lamar's track Not Like Us.
