PAKISTAN: 7 KILLED, 1 INJURED IN TERRORIST ATTACK IN GWADAR

Gwadar: Seven workers from Pakistan’s Punjab were killed in a terrorist attack that occurred in the early hours of Wednesday night in Gwadar, as reported by ARY News. The assailants targeted residential quarters near Fish Harbour Jetty in Gwadar’s Sarband, opening fire on unsuspecting victims while they were asleep. One individual sustained injuries in the gunfire.

According to police sources, the deceased and the injured individuals hailed from Punjab’s Sahiwal. Their bodies and the injured were swiftly transported to a nearby hospital. Authorities have launched an investigation to apprehend those responsible for the heinous act.

In another disturbing incident on May 1, terrorists launched an assault on a police checkpost in Punjab’s Taunsa Sharif district, leaving seven policemen injured, as per ARY News. This marked the second attack on the checkpoint within a span of two months.

Police officials revealed that the attack occurred at the Jhangi checkpost situated in Wahova, Dera Ghazi Khan. Six officers sustained injuries in the assault.

As reported by ARY News, a Punjab Police spokesperson confirmed the attempted terrorist attack on the Jhangi checkpoint. He detailed that approximately 20 terrorists armed with grenades, rocket launchers, and laser-light guns orchestrated the assault, attacking from various directions under the cover of darkness. However, they eventually retreated due to ammunition shortage.

The spokesperson disclosed that the terrorists aimed to capture the police checkpost and take the policemen as captives. Prompt response from law enforcement agencies thwarted their plans, securing the area and initiating a thorough search operation to apprehend the perpetrators.

After the attack, the area was cordoned off, and an extensive search operation commenced to track down the fleeing terrorists.
