MAYANK YADAV RULED OUT OF THE REMAINDER OF IPL 2024 SEASON: LSG COACH JUSTIN LANGER
LSG coach Justin Langer has confirmed that pace sensation will miss the remainder of the IPL 2024 season after going off the field in LSG's last game. Mayank had made a stunning start to his life with the IPL 2024 when he picked 6 wickets in 2 matches. The Delhi pacer would then get injured and miss 5 matches.Â
Mayank returned to the side for the win over MI but had to go off the field after bowling 3.1 overs as he seemingly reaggravated the injury. Langer has now revealed that the youngster's campaign is all but over. The LSG coach said Mayank had a scan and he has a small tear in a similar area where he had his first injury.Â
"No, we'll be praying that he can play, hopefully, in the play-offs, but I am a realist as well. It'll probably be difficult for him to get up for the back-end of the tournament."
"He's (Mayank) had a scan. He's got a small tear in a similar area to where his last one (injury) was. So, it's very unfortunate. We saw the impact he had when he came back into the game," said Langer.Â
Langer said that Mayank did have talk with Jasprit Bumrah after the game, who told him to face such injuries if he was going to be a fast bowler.Â
"There will always be a lot of discussion about fast bowlers, and I know he spoke to [Jasprit] Bumrah after the game and he reassured him that if he's going to be a fast bowler, a part of his journey as a young fast bowler, he's going to get injuries. "So, in my experience, every young fast bowler, probably until they get to 25 or 26, is going to experience different injuries. It's the most unfortunate. He's got huge potential," said Langer.Â

His rehabilitation was exellent
There were questions raised on LSG's management of Mayank and Langer responded to it saying that his rehab had gone well and the pacer was pain free.Â
"His rehabilitation was excellent. He went into the game [against MI], had a couple of bowls before the game. He was completely pain free. So, it's very sad for him and it's disappointing for LSG as well that he might not play (the rest of the tournament)."
