PARTHIV PATEL HITS BACK AFTER GETTING 'BODY SHAMED' FOR GLENN MAXWELL CRITICISM

Former India cricketer turned commentator Parthiv Patel hit back at his trolls for body shaming him after he criticised Australia and RCB all-rounder Glenn Maxwell for his below-par show in the Indian Premier League 2024 season. Notably, Patel had lambasted Maxwell after the all-rounder's yet another poor outing in the tournament, against GT in Match 52 on Saturday, May 5 at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.

The all rounder was dismissed for just 4 (3) in a chase of 148 which prompted Patel to call him the most 'overrated player' in the history of IPL on his X handle. However, the comment didn't go down well with the RCB fan base who began trolling the former wicketkeeper-batter for his remarks. The 39-year-old was subjected to massive trolling all over social media with people calling him out for his 'short height'.

However, the Gujarat-born cricketer was quick to respond to his trolls where he could be seen giving savage replies to people regarding his height. To add more fuel to the fire, Patel posted a photograph of him with the IPL trophy while playing for MI and took a sly dig at RCB's empty trophy cabinet in IPL. Notably, Patel has won three trophies in his IPL career once in 2010 with CSK and twice with MI in 2015 and 2017.

MAXWELL'S POOR IPL 2024 RUN

On the other hand, Maxwell who has been playing in the cash-rich league since 2012 won his only title in 2013 while being a part of the MI squad. Notably, in the ongoing IPL 2024, Maxwell has had a horrible season with the bat having scored just 36 runs from seven innings at an average of 5.14 and a strike rate of 97.29. However, he's had a decent outing with the ball having five wickets to his name from five innings at an average of 20.80 and an economy of 8.66.

Meanwhile, RCB have kept themselves alive in the playoffs race in the IPL 2024 with a four-wicket win against GT. After being put in to bat first, Gujarat were bundled out for 147 in 19.3 overs. In reply, RCB chased down the target in 13.4 overs with captain Faf du Plessis top scoring with 64 (23). Following their win, RCB made a rapid rise in the points table and climbed to the seventh spot with four wins from 11 matches having eight points to their name. The three-time runner-ups will be eager to win their remaining three fixtures to keep their playoffs hopes alive.
