SARATH KUMAR DISAPPOINTED WITH INDIA MEN’S T20 WORLD CUP 2024 SQUAD: ‘I WOULD HAVE LOVED TO SEE NATARAJAN BOWL’

On Tuesday, BCCI announced the much-awaited squad for ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024. Many of the expected players including Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav, Jasprti Bumrah, Muhammad Siraj, and Ravindra Jadeja were part of the squad. Rishab Pant and Shivam Dube's inclusion came as a pleasant surprise for many, while their selection was considered a no-brainer to others given the player's IPL form. However, cricket fans from Tamil Nadu are disappointed with the team selection as the squad doesn't feature any player from the state. Actor-politician Sarath Kumar voiced his disappointment on social media. The actor said that seam bowler T Natarajan should have been part of the team.

He wrote. "Always excited for India and the Indian team but a bit disappointed about the nonappearance of Tamil names. I would have personally loved to see Natty bowl some nasty Yorkers in the death overs to destabilise the opposition with his precision. Never too late to reconsider!"

The tweet has received a mixed response from followers. Many agreed that Tamil Nadu players were avoided, while others claimed that cricket players are not representatives of states and it is not required that the team should feature a player from every state. Many also questioned why Washington Sundar and Dinesh Karthik, other Tamil Nadu players, were not part of the team.

On the work front, Sarath Kumar was last seen in Paramporul, which received a decent response from critics and audience. His upcoming films include Criminal and Nirangal Moondru.

Sarath Kumar, the founder of All India Samathuva Makkal Katchi, recently joined the Bharatiya Janata Party, and his wife Raadika Sarathkumar contested from the Virudhunagar constituency in the recent Lok Sabha election.

On the other hand, T Natarajan, who is an inspiration to many youngsters in Tamil Nadu, is playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the ongoing IPL 2024.
