TONI KROOS TO CONTINUE AT REAL MADRID TILL 2025, NO UPDATE ON LUKA MODRIC FUTURE

The Last Dance: German midfield maestro and Real Madrid's engine on the pitch for the last decade, Toni Kroos is all set to sign a one year contract extension with Los Blancos which will extend his stint in the Spanish Capital till 2025. This news has been reported by top journalist Fabrizio Romano.

At 34 years of age, doubts loomed couple of years ago as to how long Kroos will be able to perform at the highest level. With the German himself insisting over a number of occasions that he isn't sure whether to continue at the top level or retire from Football altogether.

As it turned out Kroos has been sublime in the last two seasons with Real and in 23-24 he has started 20 games already for the Blancos. His performances haven't seen a drop off at all and it prompted Germany Head Coach Julian Nagelsmann to convince Kroos of coming out of retirement for the Euros in Summer which are set to be hosted by Germany.

Real Madrid Manager Carlo Ancelotti had hinted in the past that Toni Kroos is the master of his own destiny and if he wants to renew he will renew, there will be no problem from the club's end. Kroos recently said, "Many things are not clear about what will happen after the Euros. I don’t even have a club contract for next season yet. I would have to clarify that first."

But according to Fabrizio Romano those details have been clarified after direct talks between Kroos and Real Madrid board and the contract signing is just a formality.

Luka Modric Future Still Undecided

Toni Kroos' partner in crime for the past decade and another midfield maestro for the Blancos, Luka Modric's future at the club beyond June 2024 is still uncertain. The Ballon D'or winner has been signing one year contract extensions with the Blancos for the past three seasons but this year it looks like Modric is in his final spell in the Spanish Capital.

The 38-year old has reportedly been left frustrated with his lack of playing time this season and believes he can still perform at the top level in Europe. The Athletic's Mario Cortegana reported back in February that Carlo Ancelotti had offered a coaching role to Luka Modric at the end of the season but the Croatian wasn't keen on the idea.

Just like Toni Kroos' case, Ancelotti said that if Luka wants to renew he will get his extension with no problems from the club's end. "They can decide what they want to do. It’s up to them... we let them decide", said Ancelotti on Modric's renewal. If Modric decides not to renew then it will be the end of one of the most glorious eras in European football history and also the end of one of the best midfield partnerships in the game's history.
