RALF RANGNICK TURNS DOWN BAYERN MUNICH ADVANCES, TO REMAIN AUSTRIA BOSS BEYOND 2024

Bayern Munich have been dealt a severe blow as Ralf Rangnick has turned down the offer to replace Thomas Tuchel. Bayern announced that Tuchel would leave the managerial position after the conclusion of the current season.

Rangnick was reportedly on top of the list for Bayern and the German manager even confirmed that he was approached by the Bavarians to be their next manager. But Rangnick is now the third manager after Julian Nagelsmann and Xabi Alonso to turn Bayern down as it stands.

The former Manchester United manager is currently at the helm of the Austrian National Team and will lead them to EURO 2024 which is scheduled to be held in Germany next month.

Rangnick issued a statement confirming his intent to see out his contract with the Austrian Football Association.

“I am the Austrian team boss with all my heart.

“I really enjoy this task and am determined to successfully continue on our chosen path,” says Rangnick.

“I would like to expressly emphasize that this is not a rejection of FC Bayern, but rather a decision for my team and our common goals. Our full concentration is on the European Championships. We will do everything we can to get as far as possible!”

Bayern have failed to win the Bundesliga after 11 years as Bayer Leverkusen dominated the German top flight ending their monopoly. They also crashed out of the German Cup following a surprising defeat at the hands of Saarbrucken, a third division side.

The only realistic chance of winning a trophy would be to lay a hand on the Champions League and they need to get the better of Real Madrid in the semifinal second leg.

With most of the managers currently busy with their existing jobs, will a Champions League triumph turn out to be a life-changing opportunity for Thomas Tuchel? Only time will tell.
