As per the US Justice Department indictment, an Indian national, Nikhil Gupta has been charged with the murder-for-hire of Pannun. It also claimed that the plan to assassinate Gurpatwant Singh Pannun was foiled by US authorities. However, India has always taken a firm stance in this case and has said that the matter is under investigation. Gurpatwant Singh Pannun is an Indian-designated terrorist who holds dual citizenship in the US and Canada.
