TORNADO AT LINCOLN AND WAVERLY: WHEN WILL NEBRASKA TWISTER HIT OMAHA?

A massive tornado was spotted passing through Lincoln and Waverly in Nebraska on Friday. The cities are about 168.4 miles via I-80 E from Omaha, the most populous city in the state. A warning has been issued in the city's metro area, with a twister observed near the Sarpy County communities of Papillion and La Vista as well as Chalco.

Softball-sized hail is possible with this tornado. The warning has been issued until 3:45 PM local time. Social media users, mostly locals, posted videos of the massive twister passing through I-80.

The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a tornado warning for multiple Nebraska counties. Tt will remain in effect until 3:45 p.m. forthe following counties: Antelope, Boone, Butler, Douglas, Gage, Jefferson, Saline, Sarpy, Saunders and Seward.

"This was a few minutes ago near Waverly. Much of I-80 between Lincoln and Omaha is now under a Tornado Warning. Please be safe and alert to the conditions," the Nebraska State Patrol tweeted along with an image of the tornado.

"The #tornado threat for the #Omaha metro area is very high in the next hour or so. Not only from this major tornadic storm but other storms could spin up. Strong to intense tornadoes are possible," a storm chaser warned.

"No tornado in progress at the moment, but the supercell is recycling and could put down another tornado shortly in the Omaha, NE metro. Those in the path need to remain sheltered!" another one added.
